Probably
the most requested romantic phrase is how to say "I
love you" in Thai. That is not really as easy as
it sounds as the phrase will change depending on whether
you are male or female and also if your lover is male
or female. Then also teenagers might be less formal than
adults.
MALE
FEMALE
(pom ruk koon)
This
is male to female: "I love you"
(chun ruk koon)
This
is female to male: "I love you"
(pom ruk ter)
This
is male to female: "I lover her" but also can
be "I love you". But this one is not used so
often.
(chun
ruk kao)
This
is female to male: "I love him"

Most
Thai teenager rarely uses those sentences, "I love
you", above. But we often use our name and our girlfriend/boyfriend's
name, instead of using koon, kao, ter, etc.
For
example: If I am talking to my girlfriend and we are facing
each other, or talking on the phone. I will say "I
love you" to her:
"Gor loves Tai"
Every
single time I talk to any girl, I always use my name for
"I" and her name for "you".
